White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales Should Not Be Confirmed as the Next US Attorney General
White House Counsel Alberto Gonzales' nomination for United States (US) Attorney General should be viewed with caution as a result of past actions which are very suspect. Mr. Gonzales is a proponent of affirmative action. Early in the Bush Administration when Attorney General John Ashcroft announced that the Justice Department would embrace, for the first time ever, a view of the Second Amendment that regards gun possession as an individual right similar to freedom of speech or religion, Mr. Gonzales felt blindsided. In 2000, while serving on the Texas Supreme Court, Mr. Gonzales joined a majority of the judges in upholding a pregnant teenager's right to seek an abortion without notifying her parents.
Furthermore it has been reported that Mr. Gonzales has been involved with the National Council of La Raza, which is an organization that unabashedly supports rights for illegal aliens and has endorsed his nomination. This should be very disturbing and of concern to every American as the US fights its war against Islamofascism and should close its borders. According to a report in the January 7, 2005, Boston Herald (To View article: Hub ‘should be worried': U.S. rep: MS-13 gang is true terror threat ) , there is an al-Qaeda link to Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, a gang active in the Boston, Massachusetts area which is “extremely vicious.” In December, a reputed MS-13 gang member and 11 others waded across the Rio Gande into Brownsville, Texas and were arrested. With the group was a Muslim man from Bangladesh – Fakhrul Islam. Also, to infiltrate the US via the Mexican border, US Attorney General John Ashcroft has publicly said a high-ranking al-Qaeda leader Adnan El-Shukrijumah, has offered top dollar.
Mr. Gonzales' actions in the past demonstrate that his ideology prefers to socially engineer American society rather than uphold and protect the US Constitution as well as the people of this nation.
