Senate to Vote on Department of Homeland Security Act
The Senate is expected to vote on the Department of Homeland Security Act of 2015 (H.R. 240; Full Text of Legislation ) this week. To stop President Obama's immigration directives Republicans added provisions as part of the bill. For example, on an amendment (H.AMDT.6 )to undo the actions President Obama announced in November that provide temporary deportation relief, and offer work permits, to some 4 million illegal aliens the House of Representatives on a 237-190 vote (To view how your representative voted visit: 29) approved this amendment despite deep Democrat opposition to the amendment. Also, another amendment (H.AMDT.7 ) that would cancel Obama's 2012 policy that granted work permits and stays of deportation to more than 600,000 illegal aliens that arrived in the U.S. as children was approved on a 218-209 vote (To view how your representative voted visit: 30 ). In opposition more than two dozen Republicans joined Democrats.
