Birth Abortion Ban Passes through House
For Immediate Release.
June 6, 2003 On Wednesday,
June 4, 2003, the House of Representatives approved on a 282-139 vote,
the Partial Birth Abortion Ban of 2003 (H.R. 760).
Finally there is a
President that will sign this legislation into law to put to an end
this unnecessary and heinous late-term abortion procedure that in the
medical literature is known as an intact dilation and extraction (D
& X) or as it is in the common vernacular referred to as partial-birth
“Although 70 percent
of the public favors a ban on partial-birth abortion according to a
January Gallup poll, 133 Democrats, five Republicans, and one independent
in the House of Representatives believe that this excruciatingly painful
procedure that forcibly incises the baby’s cranium with a scissors and
then sucks out the intra-cranial contents is a viable procedure of choice
for women,” said Dr. Joel P. Rutkowski, president of the American Voice
Institute of Public Policy. He added, “As one stops and thinks for a moment,
it is tragic as well as chilling that such representatives hold public
office in America and can sleep at night, knowing that they have such
a disrepect for human life, and feel that this needlessly inhumane medical
option to terminate a baby’s life is morally and ethically valid.”
A ban on partial-birth
abortion was passed twice by Congress, but former President Bill Clinton
vetoed both measures. And although
the vetoes were overridden by the House, the Senate did not follow suite. It is unfortunate that innocent babies had
to be needlessly murdered by this heinous procedure for eight years
because of former President Clinton’s disrespect for life. However, President George W. Bush has indicated that once the bill
is reconciled in conference, he will sign it into law. America is another step closer to stopping
this nation’s needless mentality of a “culture of death” that murders
Other procedures are
available to terminate a pregnancy that does not put the woman’s health
at risk like partial-birth abortion.
There is absolutely no need for this heinous procedure that is
performed for the convenience of abortion and not the woman’s health. Tragically, upward to 90 percent, the victims of the D & X procedure
are absolutely normal not abnormal babies.
