the President's Desk...
Land Historically, Legally, and Biblically
THE DISPUTED LAND IS ISRAEL'S
TERRORISM WILL NOT BE ELIMINATED BY A PALESTINIAN
PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH
President Bush once
again failed to demonstrate leadership on June 24, 2002, when he said
the United States (U.S) will support the creation of a Palestinian State. Unfortunately, the President as well as the
State Department have failed to accept the cold hard facts that the
Palestinians will put-forth their Trojan Horse state to meet the President’s
guidelines for statehood but eventually will turn such a state into
an entity that promotes terrorism in the same way as other Islamic countries
like Iran, Iraq and Syria.
The President called
upon the Palestinian people to elect new leaders — leaders not compromised
by terror. But he does not understand
that while the faces in leadership may change, their commitment to murdering
innocent Israelis will always be there because their ultimate goal is
the elimination of Israel. Furthermore,
it is the Palestinian people as well as there leadership that is committed
to terror and the destruction of Israel. For example, an opinion poll
by the Palestinian Jerusalem Media and Communication Center (JMCC) released
on June 11, 2002, demonstrated 43 percent of Palestinians believe the
aim of their 20-month old Intifada should be the elimination of Israel. The revolution was also supported in some
way by 79 percent of the people surveyed.
And 68 percent said they approved of suicide bombings against
Israeli civilians. In another
public opinion survey conducted on May 22-28 2002, by the Palestinian
Center for Pubic Opinion, 62.4 percent opposed the Saudi peace plan
that called for the establishment of two states, and the establishment
of full to normal relations and full peace between the Arab states if
the plan does not include the “right of return” to within the borders
of Israel. Furthermore, 50.1
percent indicated “Fatah Tanzim” and other organizations indirectly
linked to the Palestinian Authority (PA) security services should hide
their weapons if asked to hand over their weapons for confiscation or
destruction by the PA. And 37.8
percent said they should do nothing.
TO THE TOP
The President called
upon the Palestinian people to build a practicing democracy based on
tolerance and liberty. However,
this is wishful thinking in the President’s mind since not one Arab
nation in the Middle East has developed a democratic form of government.
Instead they have developed governments that bring tyranny and
oppression upon their people. The
only example of a democratic nation in the Middle East is Israel.
The President called
upon Arab states to build closer ties of diplomacy and commerce with
Israel that eventually will lead to full normalization of relations
between Israel and the entire Arab world.
The one issue that unites the divided Arab world is the destruction
of Israel. The Arab Press weekly provides evidence that
the issue of contention between Arabs and Jews is the very existence
of the Jewish state while those in the West appear to be convinced that
the Israeli-Arab dispute is about land.
On June 16, 2002, Egyptian
academics and intellectuals opened discussions on eliminating Israel.
Furthermore, Egyptian Prime Minister ‘Atef’ Abeid said Egypt is unable
to intervene militarily on behalf of the PA, because there are insufficient
funds to support such a war with Israel ; responding to a question posed
by a reporter from the Persian Gulf.
The PA and the Palestinian
people will never relinquish their assertion that the Palestinians have
the exclusive right to historic Palestine and the Palestinian people
have the right to immigrate to the Jewish state (“right of return”). Tragically, a large portion of the Palestinian
people’s goal is flooding Israel with millions of Palestinians culminating
in the destruction of Israel.
TO THE TOP
To liberate Jerusalem,
Yasser Arafat has repeatedly called for Jihad — a holy war. However, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital
for over 3,300 years and has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim
entity. Furthermore, Jerusalem
was established as the Jewish capital 1600 years prior to the birth
Although the two holy
cities of Islam are both located in Arabia:
Mecca, where Mohammed was born which is the direction Muslims
face to pray (while the Jews face Jerusalem) and Medina, where Mohammed
first preached the Islamic religion, Muslim (Arabs) still make a religious
claim to Jerusalem.

Disputed Land Is Israel’s
It is tragic that the
US led by President Bush, the European Union (EU),
and the UN have accepted the false claims of Yasser Arafat and
the Arab world that the Jews have stolen the homeland of Palestinians,
and they are trying to regain their ancient homeland of Palestine. It must be made clear from the onset that Yasser Arafat is not a
Palestinian but an Egyptian, an Arab.
With respect to the people of Palestine in actual terms, they
do not exist. With the help of the Western media, Arafat
and the Arab states have been able to effectively promote their propaganda
that Israel is occupying the land of the Palestinian people. In fact, Palestine has never existed as an
autonomous entity while the land of Israel belongs to the people of
Israel. This is supported historically,
legally and Biblically. The
land that the Arabs claim is occupied land is not there’s; it is Israel’s
In pre-Islamic times,
the people who inhabited the Arabian Peninsula and the Syrian Desert
were called Arabs. The beginning
of the large–scale Arab expansion outside the Arabian Peninsula and
the Syrian Desert was marked by the foundation of Islam by the Prophet
Muhammad (570-632) and the Islamization of Arabia during his lifetime.
The term “Arab” assumed a second meaning: it came to denote all
the people who after having been converted to Islam, gave up their ancestral
languages and adopted Arabic instead, from this time on.
Since Biblical times,
long before there was an Arab nation and 2000 years before the rise
of Islam, Israel the homeland of the Jewish people, became a nation
in 1312 before the C.E. (common era).
Subsequently it was occupied more than 15 times which included
the Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans and the Ottoman
Turk Empire. The Ottoman Turk’s occupied the area the longest, on and off for 400 years between 1517 to 1917-18.
The Turks were followed by the British who ruled under a mandate
of the League of Nations to renew a homeland for the Jews.
The first time the
term Palestine was used was in 70 C.E. when the Roman Empire conquered
Israel and to humiliate and punish the Jews for resisting their rule
declared that the land of Israel would be no more and called it Palestine
a term derived by the Philistines that the Jews conquered centuries
earlier. When the Romans invaded and then put down two
revolts, in C.E. 66-73 and 132-35 much of the Jewish population was
exiled and Jewish sovereignty ended.
The Jews had dominion for more than 1300 years prior to their
expulsion and have had a presence in the area for more than 3,300 years.
Although, the world
portrays Israel as an occupier of another people’s land, in actually
it is occupying its own land of Judea, Samaria and Gaza.
Erroneously, Judea and Samaria is commonly referred to as the
West Bank. The Term West Bank
was coined by the late King Hussein of Jordan who illegally occupied
the region between 1948-1967.
the years of British rule (1918-48) the land of Israel was defined.
In 1867 Mark Twain described Palestine as he wrote:
“ Of all the lands there are for dismal scenery, I think Palestine
must be the prince. The hills
are barren…The valleys are unsightly deserts fringed with a feeble vegetation
that has an expression about it of being sorrowful and despondent…It
is hopeless, dreary, heartbroken land…Palestine sits in sackcloth and
ashes…Over it broods the spell of a curse that has withered its fields
and fettered its energies…Nazareth is forlorn;…Jericho…accursed…Jerusalem…a
pauper village…Palestine is desolate and unlovely.”
It is amazing that
Arafat and the Arab world claim the Jews stole the Palestinian homeland
yet when Mark Twain walked the land, he did not find the Palestinian
people; he never saw a human being on his whole route.
TO THE TOP
Will Not Be Eliminated By A Palestinian State
The armed struggle
will not end, even if Arafat is replaced by a new PA leader and the
PA leadership itself is changed. Whoever
rules over the Palestinian people will not renounce the armed struggle
or what is known in the civilized world as terrorism because the people
of Palestinian will not allow them to do so.
In order to vanish the Israelis and establish a Palestinian state,
they will have to carry on their armed activities.
They will never renounce it or obligate itself to cease the armed
struggle. Until in their minds what they call the Israeli
occupation is abolished, liberating Palestine will be accomplished only
when it is liberated from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River
and from the south to the north. The
popular revolution in Palestine is resolved to continue the struggle. Arafat, the PA leadership of the Arab world,
does not interpret renouncing terrorism as meaning to suspend military
operations. What Arafat, the
PA leadership, and the Arab when they denounce terrorism is Israel’s
right to defend itself from terrorism.
Arafat, PA leadership
and the Arab world are implementing a Phased Plan in which the destruction
of Israel will be accomplished gradually, because they know they can
not defeat Israel in an all-out war.
They believe that more potent than bombs alone are diplomacy
and bombs. And tragically the State Department and the
Bush Administration continue to succumb to this ploy.
TO THE TOP
The only way that Israel
can stop the terrorism that has plagued this nation for the last 20
months is by declaring war on the PA as well as any other terrorist
organization such as Hizbullah and Hamas that is associated with the
destruction of Israel. The U.S. must stand aside and let the Israel
Defense Forces (IDF) destroy completely the terrorist network established
by Yassar Arafat. Unfortunately, the Bush Administration still
does not realize that the Palestinian cause has nothing to do with nationalism
and the formation of a state. Instead it is about radical Islamic fundamentalism
and a culture of death. There
will never be peace in their minds until Israel is destroyed. Thus Israel at this point has no choice but
to force the terrorist out of the areas they occupy and take back the
land that is rightfully theirs. If
the Arab world really cared about the Palestinian people they would
allow these people to immigrate into their countries.
The President quoted
that the Bible says, “I have set before you life and death, therefore
choose life.” However, if President
Bush is to use the Bible as a standard, he must not forget that the
land that the Arabs and the Palestinians say is their homeland has been
stolen from Israel and is the same land that the God of the Bible, the
God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had given Israel.
When the President supports the formation of a Palestinian state,
he must not forget that in Biblical terms he is actually against Israel
because there is no doubt that such a state one day would try to destroy
it. The President has indicated
that he is a man of faith and reads his Bible to gain strength.
Thus he must not forget that the Bible clearly states that there
will be cursings upon those people and nations which are against Israel
and blessing for those people and nations which are for Israel.
