Heartbeat Protection Act of 2017 (H.R. 490)
The House of Representatives is expected to begin discussion of the Heartbeat Protection Act of 2017 (H.R. 490; Text of Legislation ) on Thursday, February 16, 2017. The bill evenly applies the medical measurement of life all the way to the womb. The unborn baby is protected from abortion if a heartbeat is detected. According to a national Barna Group poll, seven out of 10 individuals in America agree with this. Furthermore, 86 percent of Republicans, 60 percent of Independents and 55 percent of Democrats agree if a physician is able to detect the heartbeat of an unborn baby, it should be legally protected from abortion.
