Senate to Vote on the Local Law Enforcement Act of 2001 (S. 625)

On Tuesday, June 11, 2002, the Senate is expected to vote on the Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act of 2001 (To view the: Full text of legislation).  The measure would add to the list of offenses already covered under a 1968 federal law, crimes motivated by sexual orientation, gender, or disability.  And if local authorities refuse to press charges, it would allow federal prosecutors the opportunity to pursue a hate-crimes case.  Special rights should not be afforded to individuals based on sexual orientation, gender, or a disability since a violent action in a crime against any individual is a hate crime.

What Can You Do?

Urge your senators Not To Support the Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act of 2001.
