House to Vote on
Unemployment Insurance Benefits Extension Act

A day before it has to be signed by President Bush, the House of Representatives will vote on Wednesday, January 8, 2003, on the Unemployment Insurance Benefit Extension Act that would extend federal unemployment benefits for five months.Since recipients wait until their benefits have been exhausted to take their next employment position, extending or increasing unemployment benefits can actually delay a recipientís progress in finding a new job, thus lengthening unemployment according to dozens of economic research papers.

What Can You Do?

Urge your representative to NOT SUPPORT the Unemployment Insurance Benefit Extension Act.
