Continuing Appropriations Act, 2018 and Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Requirements Act, 2017 (H.R.601)

 

The Senate passed the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2018 and Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Requirements Act, 2017 (H.R.601; Text of Legislation) on an 80-17 vote (To view how your senators voted visit:  192) on Thursday September 7, 2017.   The measure would appropriate post-hurricane disaster aid totaling $15.3 billion while raising the national debt limit and funding the government on a stopgap basis through December 8, 2017.

An amendment to the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2018 and Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Requirements Act, 2017 (H.R.601; Text of Legislation) was tabled (killed) by the Senate on an 87-10 vote (To view how your senators voted visit: 189) on Thursday September 7, 2017. The measure sought to keep the billís $15.3 billion expenditure for hurricane relief deficit-neutral by cutting the same sum from foreign aid accounts.

The measure appropriates $7.85 billion in hurricane aid consisting mainly of funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
