An Act to provide for reconciliation pursuant to titles II and V of the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2018 (H.R.1)

 

A Democrat-sponsored amendment to An Act to provide for reconciliation pursuant to titles II and V of the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2018 (H.R.1; Text of Legislation) failed to pass the Senate on a 48-52 vote (To view how your senators voted visit: 288) on Thursday, November 30, 2017.  The amendment would have provide tax credits of $1,500 per worker to corporations that pay wages of at least $15 an hour, provide substantive health and retirement benefits and keep their headquarters in America.

The Senate failed to pass an amendment to An Act to provide for reconciliation pursuant to titles II and V of the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2018 (H.R.1; Text of Legislation) on a 48-51 vote (To view how your senators voted visit: 287) on Thursday, November 30, 2017. The Democrat-sponsored amendment would have required corporations to use as much of their savings from a pending tax-overhaul bill (H.R. 1) to hire new workers as they spent on raising executive pay, purchasing back stock and increasing dividend payments to shareholders.

Minnesota's Economic Rights in the Superior National Forest Act (H.R.3905)

 

The Minnesota's Economic Rights in the Superior National Forest Act (H.R.3905; Text of Legislation) passed the House of Representatives on a 216-204 vote (To view how your representative voted visit: 643  ) on Thursday, November 30, 2017.  The measure requires the Bureau of Land Management to renew mineral leases in the Superior National Forest in Minnesota to clear the way for the Chilean-owned company Twin Metals Minnesota to develop an underground copper mine there.

Requiring each Member, officer, and employee of the House of Representatives to complete a program of training in workplace rights and responsibilities each session of each Congress, and for other purposes (H.Res.630)

 

The House of Representatives on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, on a voice vote approved a resolution Requiring each Member, officer, and employee of the House of Representatives to complete a program of training in workplace rights and responsibilities each session of each Congress, and for other purposes (H.Res.630; Text of Legislation).  The resolution requires members, staff, interns and others employed by the chamber to receive annual, in-person training aimed at preventing sexual harassment in the congressional workplace. And within the first 180 days of 2018 the first round must be completed.
